Wa’ad was formed by two sisters, inspired by their late mother, Sarah’s anti-occupation activism in the 2000’s, as well as mutual aid efforts in the ghettos during the Holocaust.

October 2023: A Call to Action

As Gaza faced relentless bombardment, we reconnected with friends in Palestine, journalists, social workers and nurses. They saw Israeli violence rapidly increasing and wanted to do something.

November 2023: Our First Campaign

Wa’ad’s first campaign was in Nov. 2023. We raised 11,500$ through family and friends, and we served 35 families affected by violence in Nablus and Jenin.

2024: Growing Impact

Throughout 2024 and 2025 we partnered with three long-standing women’s associations in Nablus, Jenin and Tulkarem, creating an extensive network of support across the Northern West Bank serving over 450 families and raising over 80,000$.

Summer 2025: Committed for the Long Term

In Summer of 2025, after 54,000 Palestinians had been violently expelled from their homes in the Northern West Bank, we were able to have strategy sessions with our partners on the ground and made the collective decision to formalize Wa’ad in order to support more families for the long term.
